Home Surround Sound Systems

Investing in quality home surround sound systems is the best way to enjoy everything from television to computer games.

Of course, there are several factors to consider before you decide on a particular home surround sound system. This is because these systems typically come in three different models: 5.1, 6.1, and 7.1. This means you can choose between having as few as five speakers and as much as seven. While the quality of the sound won’t change with the number of speakers you have, more speakers means increased ability to customize your listening experience.

How come, you may wonder? Well, these systems do more than just broadcast sound from all sides. They also play certain sounds from accurate locations. For example, if you are playing a videogame and a  door abruptly slams to your character’s right, you will hear it at your right as well. This way, you are truly experiencing sound the same way you would if you were actually in the game itself. This effect can be achieved adequately with five speakers. With seven speakers, however, you have a broader range of where a sound can come from, giving you the opportunity for an even more realistic experience.

Of course, there are other reasons too to choose 5.1 home surround sound systems over 7.1 ones. The setup process can sometimes be tricky, as not only must you connect each wire to each stereo correctly, but you must also do it in a way that keeps the wires from getting in the way. Oftentimes, homeowners find themselves struggling because their wires are tangled and messy and may even span across areas along the floor where people walk frequently.

Fortunately, there are many solutions for keeping the wires safely out of the way. Some people achieve this by hanging them along the wall using tacks. Others tie the wires away using twist ties. There are also a variety of home surround systems which by design contain a compartment that allows people to “hide” unseemly wires, keeping them safe.

Depending on your room’s arrangement, you may want to invest in wireless home surround sound systems. Contrary to popular belief, however, there is no such thing as a completely wireless system. In most cases, such a partially wireless audio system will allow you plug in other speakers to other outlets. This makes the often arduous task of managing wires much easier. However, if your room doesn’t have a lot of outlets in the right places, having a wireless system may be just as tricky.
